Friedrich Wilhelm Schadow

Brief Biography-Friedrich Wilhelm Schadow was from Berlin, where he studied at the Berlin Academy and later became a professor. He specialised in portraiture and painted portraits of the Prussian royal family. He became a director of the Dusseldorf Academy in 1826; two of his many successful students were Johann Wilhelm Schirmer and Adolph Tidemand. In addition, he undertook religious commissions in Rome and for churches in Germany. |
