Wang Shimin 王时敏

Brief Biography-Wang Shimin was born in Taicang, Shanghai, in 1592. He was a disciple of Dong Qichang, and old paintings owned by his father impressed him at an early age. Later in life, he settled in Taicang. The pictures of Huang Gongwang influenced some of his works, and he also became associated with the Four Wangs, who Huang Gongwang and the orthodox school inspired. The four Wangs were Wang Shimin, Wang Jian, Wang Hui and Wang Yuanqi. |
