Juan de Soto

1592-1620 Spain/Baroque

Brief Biography-Juan de Soto, a disciple of Bartolome Carducho, was born in Madrid in 1592. He was known to have decorated the queen’s dressing room in The Royal Palace of El Pardo after the fire of 1604. As a result, Felipe III, The Pious, employed him, and he received the queen’s dressing table as an award. He gained a high success rate with his works; however, he sadly died young in Madrid in 1620. Unfortunately, the fresco has gone, and no records of any extant works remain.
