Brief Biography-Nikolai Voldemar Triik from Tallinn first studied at the Saint Petersburg Art and Industry Academy. After being expelled for political reasons, he studied under Ants Laikmaa in Tallinn and Osip Braz in Saint Petersburg. His studies were extensive; he also studied with the Finnish Art Association and three art schools in Paris. His later travels took him to Norway, Germany, and Denmark before returning to Estonia to teach in Tartu. There he became the first professor of Art in Estonia. He died in Tallinn in 1940. |
