John William Waterhouse

1849-1917 England/Pre-Raphaelite

 

Brief Biography-John William Waterhouse was born in Rome in 1849 to English parents, and the family moved to Kensington when he was five. He studied at the Royal Academy, became an Academician in 1895 and painted in that style until the Pre-Raphaelites influenced his style. Waterhouse primarily painted Greek and Roman mythological subjects and exhibited his works annually at the Academy. He died in London in 1817.
