Jan Weenix

Brief Biography-Jan Weenix was born in Amsterdam, the son of Jan Baptist Weenix, who was his master. He was a disciple of Melchior d'Hondecoeter and primarily painted still-lifes, but he also painted Italianate landscapes, portraits, and architectural works. Apart from Amsterdam’s main base, he worked in the Düsseldorf court of the Elector Palatine Johann Wilhelm, painting still-lifes. The Utrecht Guild of Saint Luke admitted him in 1664. Weenix died in 1719. |
