Albert Welti
1862-1912 Switzerland/Symbolism

Brief Biography-Albert Welti was born in Zurich in 1862. He studied engraving and photography but eventually took up art at the Munich Academy of Art in 1882. A few years later, Arnold Böcklin became his mentor, and in 1894, he married and lived in Zurich before moving to Munich, where he befriended the author Hermann Hesse who inspired him greatly. He painted the Federal Palace of Switzerland in his later years. Welti died at the young age of fifty in 1912. His son, Albert Jakob Welti, became a successfu painter. |
