Brief Biography-Dong Yuan was born c. 934 in Zhongling, Jiangxi, China. He worked during the Southern Tang of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms Period and painted landscapes mainly in monochrome ink. His style was the most influential in the Southern School, and his paintings inspired later artists such as the Four Wangs. |
